About Us:

Owen Electric has been in business since 1986. We primarily do large commercial, institutional and multifamily electrical construction projects. Based in Northeast Florida our primary area of operations is in the Southeastern United States. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid or project.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine the scope of work and required contents of project estimate.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using the estimating software.
  • Ascertain any risks related to the estimate in order to guarantee that provisions are made for those risks in the tender.
  • Ensure that estimates are complete, well-organized and ready for review before the given deadline.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-ups. Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
  • Provide leadership and mentor junior estimators and other members of the Preconstruction group.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • 8-10 years estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to electrical construction.
  • Successful track record estimating and negotiating large, complex projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques and estimating software.
  • Ability to successfully coordinate and supervise group work effort.
  • Superior technical, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Accubid and Accubid Live Count Software is helpful though not required.
