GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for driving sound fiduciary decision making and risk management strategies for the Investment Management & Trust (IM&T) business in multiple, assigned regions by implementing consistent fiduciary behavior and encouraging consistent client service across the IM&T book of business. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal guidelines in the execution of fiduciary responsibility. Collaborate with the Managing Director of Personal Trust and the Chief Fiduciary Officer to set trust administration execution strategies. Develop and enforce trust policies and procedures. Develop and lead annual trust professional training programs. Evaluate the risk profile of new business opportunities. Collaborate with the LOB and Private Bank Legal Counsel to drive solutions that meet client goals and mitigate risk to the bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
O Leadership Responsibilities
O In collaboration with the Managing Director of Personal Trust, the Chief Fiduciary Officer and in consultation with Private Bank Legal Counsel, lead sound fiduciary decision-making for all IM&T regions of the Bancorp.
O Drive consistent fiduciary behavior within the IM&T business by working closely with the Regional Trust Directors to customize coaching of trust staff and lead solution development for client-specific issues.
O Identify risk and develop recommendations and action plans to eliminate or mitigate that risk.
O Identify process gaps/variations that could lead to opportunities to improve risk controls, reduce costs or enhance client service.
O Establish, foster and maintain strong working relationships with peers and line management within the business unit to support an effective workflow and culture of continuous improvement.
O Execute strategic and tactical programs to address and resolve current regulatory, Audit, Compliance or self-identified issues as well as evolving risks and other exposures to the Bancorp.
O Serve as a voting member of the respective Regional Approval Groups and the IM&T Governance Committee.
O Participate actively in the Risk Oversight Council and the Foundation Oversight Council.

O Core Responsibilities
O Develop consistent document interpretation, issue resolution, solutions to systemic administrative issues, policy and procedure interpretation, legal interpretation, account coding and account administration execution.
O Perform necessary legal research for assigned regions
O Receive, investigate and distribute complaints to Business Controls, Private Bank Legal Counsel and trust officers. Participate in complaint resolution and drafting responses to clients.
O Review legal documents including contracts, trust agreements, wills and non-judicial settlement agreements, and serve as liaison to Private Bank Legal Counsel if next level review is needed.
O Consult with trust professionals across the Bancorp and within assigned regions regarding fiduciary issues and evolving client matters, which pose significant financial and/or legal risk to the Bancorp, in order to resolve those issuesefficientlyand effectively.
O Collaborate with the Personal Trust line of business, Product Management, Risk, Compliance and Training to champion the implementation of various initiatives and ensure that all trust professionals have a consistent understanding of IM&T policies and procedures.
O Design, implement and present annual fiduciary training sessions for all trust officers and specialists, and coordinate those programs with product manager and senior leadership.
O Manage, oversee and monitor risk within the business case exception process.
O Assist local Trust officers in resolving Compliance, Audit and regulatory exceptions.
O Partner with Private Bank Legal Counsel (and external counsel, when necessary) to draft protective documentation and to manage threats and litigation.
O Develop and implement a Resource Officer program to provide 1) expertise to trust officers in specific aspects of fiduciary administration, 2) development opportunities for program participants, and 3) a path and proving ground for potential ,future Regional Fiduciary Executives.

O Job Knowledge and Communication Responsibilities
O Maintain a working knowledge of the appropriate laws, regulations, Private Bank policies and procedures and Fifth Third Bancorp policies.
O Maintain an understanding of current and emerging trends, changes and issues in the industry with regard to fiduciary matters (e.g. estate planning (including the use of ILITs), probate, estate, gift and income tax planning, guardianships, special needs trusts, state-specific laws) and unique assets and apply this knowledge for the benefit of the Bancorp.
O Understand the organizational structure, key management personnel and primary objectives of the IM&T business of Fifth Third Bancorp.
O Understand the issues and concerns of outside regulatory bodies, business line self-assessments, Compliance and Audit and their impact on the Personal Trust business line.
O Develop strong working relationships with Senior Management and trust professionals across the Bancorp.

O Demonstrate sound, complex decision-making skills, including balancing business risk to Fifth Third Bank with client interests.
O Champion the Bancorp Vision and Core Values through personal actions and exert leadership influence to promote high performing work groups.
O Attend community and/or industry-specific forums, conferences and/or meetings in order to broaden relationships, network and continually deepen knowledge of applicable law, trends, practices, products and competitors.
O Participate actively on non-profit boards, in community affairs and professional associations.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
O Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree (e.g. JD or MBA) and/or professional licenses (CTFA/CFP/CFA/CPA) preferred.
O Minimum of 10 years experience in the fiduciary business required.
O Mastered leadership and relationship management skills.
O Strong business development skills.
O Risk Management and Oversight skills.
O Demonstrated knowledge of trust and fiduciary laws and regulations.
O Solid understanding of financial markets and investment theory.
O Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with personnel at all levels of the organization, including Bancorp and Affiliate Senior Management.
