POSITION SUMMARY Working the assigned shift, the QC Lab Technician: Tests and inspects in-process materials, finished products, raw materials, and other laboratory samples under supervision of shift supervisor or lead. Technician I is typically assigned to same task area every day. Conducts physical and organoleptic (taste, smell) testing. Technician I will be assigned a primary assignment of physical or micro, but may be assigned in any of the task areas in which he/she has been trained based on the needs of the department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Tests and inspects in-process materials, finished products, raw materials, and other laboratory samples with guidance when needed from shift supervisor or QC Leads. Tests materials as assigned by priority listing provided daily by QC management. Records and compares results to specifications. Notifies supervisor/lead when result is out-of specification. Operates the following types of equipment and essential supplies associated with process - pH meter, FTIR, NIR, BIOSYS, disintegration apparatus, moisture analyzer, automatic hardness tester, density tester, viscometer, refractometer, Polarimeter, electronic balance, and particle sifter. Conducts routine microbiological analyses. Assists in inspection as needed. Complies with safety and GMP requirements. Actively participates in the safety program by: engaging in training activities to learn what constitutes a safety hazard; reporting safety concerns to the supervisor; submitting safety suggestions; and correcting or reporting to the appropriate people when an employee sees a workplace health or safety hazard, until it is resolved. Assists with communicating safety information to new employees. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
