What work will you perform?

As the HR Business Partner (HRBP) you will be a strategic partner to management and a liaison between the business and HR centers of excellence to ensure proper alignment, helping to drive positive change and foster a culture of excellence, while delivering value-added services. The HRBP is responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives and business needs. You will support the growth and development of the business and its people through targeted HR guidance and expertise. You will contribute to achieving business objectives through a focus on employee engagement and retention. This position plays a major role in managing the implementation of HR initiatives and annual processes across Landstar, including salary planning, organizational restructuring, talent management, succession planning, and diversity initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides thought partnership to leaders to assist with meeting critical business needs
  • Collaborates with leadership to drive the advancement of HR initiatives
  • Evaluates key performance targets and related talent implications with business leaders to develop actionable people strategies
  • Participates in staff and other critical meetings in the client business unit(s)
  • Leverages data, analytics, benchmarking, and industry knowledge to inform and enhance business recommendations
  • Provides guidance and support in workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational restructuring
  • Collaborates with department managers to evaluate promotions, transfers, and new hires
  • Fosters strong partnerships between management and employees, ensuring a positive work environment, increased productivity and retention
  • Consults with line management to provide HR guidance when appropriate, including HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Analyzes HR data to drive informed decision-making and collaborates with the HR team to propose and implement best-practice solutions
  • Mediates and resolves employee relations issues with fairness and professionalism
  • Conducts thorough, objective, and effective investigations
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Facilitates forward-looking discussions on talent development and organizational culture
  • Identifies training needs for business units and/or individual training/coaching needs, including follow-up to monitor success

Required Minimum Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues
  • 7 years of experience advising on multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation, performance management, and federal and state employment laws

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Certified HR Professional - SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR, or ability to obtain certification within one year

  • Proficiency in HR technology and analytics tools

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation and administrative practices
