Driver/Transit Operator: Freeport, IL
Our customer in Freeport, Illinois is seeking motivated individuals to join their team who can contribute to the overall success of the company. As a Driver/Transit Operator, you will be responsible for providing courteous and professional service to clients, and a desire and willingness to work with senior citizens, disabled & general public.
Responsibilities of the Driver/Transit Operator:
- Driving company’s transit vehicles in a safe manner, observing all current traffic laws, and in accordance with company policies. Includes pickup and delivery of clients/items, as scheduled, and as authorized.
- Offer and provide physical assistance to all passengers, to and from vehicles, as needed or requested, in a safe and courteous manner.
- Operate wheelchair lift in accordance with policies and training guidelines.
- Be familiar with all emergency procedures, exits. Report any accident
- Perform a daily pre and post walk-around maintenance inspections of the vehicle completing required checklist.
- Guarantee that vehicle is properly fueled, as needed.
- Check vehicle radio for proper operation.
- Report any mechanical problems to Maintenance Coordinator.
- Deliver/pickup vehicles for scheduled maintenance, as instructed.
- Keep vehicle clean, inside and out.
- Complete and maintain all required forms for the operation of the transportation service. Includes, but is not limited to, daily trip logs, daily walk-around inspection checklist, fuel records, and passenger donations.
Driver/Transit Operator Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License with appropriate classification.
- Must have a safe driving record with no reckless or other driving convictions in the past 3 years.
- Must pass Basic and Advanced Small Bus Driver Knowledge Tests, and Driver Road Test, as administered by Transportation Coordinator.
- Knowledge of current traffic laws.
- Geographic knowledge of City of Freeport and Stephenson County.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement emergency/disaster procedures.
- Availability for flexible hours.
Pay for Driver/Transit Operator: Starting at $15/hour.
