ON CALL Banquet Houseman

(Fair Market Wage: $10 per hour plus tips)

We are looking for an energetic and dedicated On Call Banquet Houseman to join our team. The houseman will act as a liaison between the front and back of the house, assisting in all positions needed. Candidates must have a friendly and professional demeanor, work well on a team, and be comfortable on their feet for several hours at a time in a fast-paced environment. Position reports to the Banquet Manager and captains.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for proper setup and tear down phase of events
  • Assist with post-event clean up and reset
  • Transporting supplies, furniture, tables, chairs, stocking bars and action stations
  • Complete knowledge and interpretation of buffet stations for particular services
  • Have knowledge of floor plan, hours of operation, and time line of event
  • Familiarity of table numbers and seat numbers
  • Executes delivery of food from kitchen to tables
  • Must work with a high sense of urgency
  • Maintain event equipment and report any damage or issues there might be
  • Properly care for, store and move tables, chairs, equipment and room supplies
  • Participates as a team member for events when needed
  • Assist with food preparation before and during the event.
  • Clears dishes and glass ware when returning to kitchen (pre-buss)
  • Ensures that all food and beverages delivered and served are served promptly, garnished correctly, and meet the quality and presentation standards
  • Performs assigned side work and cleaning duties as assigned by manager
  • Closely observe guests to ensure that they are satisfied with food, beverage, and service; immediately recognize and respond to any guest’s needs and/or requests
  • Ability to perform multiple functions throughout the venue on an as-needed basis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 16 years old and be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Previous banquet server/catering or houseman/porter/steward experience a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must be able to stand and walk for several hours at a time and lift up to 75 pounds
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Cleanliness: Being clean and neat when serving food and drinks will help create a great first impression to your customers.

Education/Certification/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous banquet server/caterer waiter experience a plus.
