Job Title: Cook

Home Office: Vienna, IL


Area of Focus: Developmental Services


Program(s): Supported Employment (SE) is a vocational rehabilitation approach that emphasizes helping people with serious mental illnesses and disabilities obtain competitive work in the community. The program provides support to ensure their success in the workplace. Our SE program will help trainees find jobs that pay competitive wages in integrated settings in the community.


Immediate Supervisor: Site Manager

Cook Hours of Work: Full-time - 35 hours

  • Shift - 1:00pm – 8:30pm
  • Monday - Friday

Cook Minimum Qualifications: GED/HS Diploma required; must get food handlers managers license within 30 - 60 days of hire; prefer experience cooking in commercial environment.

Cook Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of kitchen equipment; experience in food preparation and cooking for large numbers of people; excellent written and oral communication skills; basic computer skills

Cook Special Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older; must complete and maintain the required registry clearance and criminal fingerprint background checks; be able to lift 50 lbs.; maintain First Aid and CPR Certification; maintains a valid driver’s license and vehicle liability insurance.

Cook job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleans and sanitizes the dining room, kitchen, storage area and dietary equipment as needed
  • Prepares and cooks food in accordance with state food and nutrition guidelines
  • Monitors food temperatures prior to meal service
  • Records temperatures of food according to established policy and procedure
  • Ensures that an adequate supply of food, supplies, etc. is available at all times
  • Follows recipes for planned weekly menu
  • Ensures proper quantities of food are prepared
  • Ensures that food is prepared in accordance with established time schedules
  • Labels, dates and stores food properly according to established policies
  • Picks up and disposes of dining room and kitchen trash
  • Reports all health and safety concerns to site coordinator
  • Follows agency policy and procedure for all reports of abuse and neglect or suspected abuse and neglect
