Museum Attendant

Job Title: Museum Attendant

Full Time

Pay: $15/hr

Responsibilities:

•Direct visitor flow in Museum and provide access to professional staff as needed

•Monitor galleries and public areas for inappropriate behavior and report safety or security concerns to the Museum’s Facilities Manager in a discreet and timely manner

• Responsible for housekeeping including cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping, vacumming, and dusting

•Assist with working special events, set up and breakdown of chairs and tables, as needed

•Provide orientation to visitors and information regarding self-guided tours, exhibit galleries, special exhibitions, admission fees, operating hours, rental opportunities, and other basic Museum services

•Ability to answer multi-line telephone and routes calls or takes messages as necessary

Requirements:

•Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, with associated reading, writing, and speaking skills

•One or more years of work experience with the public in a collaborative role

•Knowledge of telephone etiquette and basic office procedures and practices

•Ability to deal effectively and pleasantly with Museum visitors and staff members

•Basic computer skills

•Careful attention to detail

•A strong work ethic and a positive, outgoing, and friendly personality

•Ability to interpret and explain Museum programs, policies, and activities in a clear, concise, and unfailingly courteous manner

•Ability to identify visitor needs and take the initiative to correct, remedy, or improve the guest experience
