- Place asphalt at the correct grade and slope, according to job specifications.
- Grade area to specifications
- Inspect grade and elevations correctly
- Maintain density and stability of grade
- Perform daily machine inspection and routine greasing, oiling, and fueling
- Assist maintenance personnel with repairs
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment
- Monitor aggregates as they are delivered
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 3 years paving experience
- Ability to read stakes and check grades
- Ability to operate grade checking equipment
- Knowledge of materials
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and other departments
- Ability to read and write
- Valid driver license
Physical Requirements
- Lifts up to fifty (50) pounds
- Sits, stands, and walks for extended period of time
- Occasional pushing, pulling and/or prying
- Good visual acuity, depth perception and eye-hand coordination
- Climbing on, in to and out of equipment
- Able to detect differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness
- Works in environment with noise and temperature variations
- Operates motor vehicle
