Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education with secondary endorsement and approval(s) in specific subject matter area(s) to be taught.


Job Summary:

The classroom teacher is involved in designing a flexible program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth. The classroom environment is to be favorable to learning and personal growth for both students and the teacher. The teacher will establish an effective professional rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge; and continuously check the progress of the students through the curriculum. The teacher will establish positive relationships with parents and with other staff members.


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Instructional Responsibilities:
    1. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
    2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students.
    3. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum and, in conjunction with those goals, establish clear objectives for all lesson units, projects, and educational activities designed to communicate these goals to students.
    4. Employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting the stated objectives.
    5. Clearly present lessons to students.
    6. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
    7. Be enthused and self-motivated to help motivate the students to achieve to the best of their abilities. Build self-esteem.
    8. Make assignments that are clear and reasonable.
    9. Use evaluative methods which are fair and consistent in determining the progress of students.
    10. Help students acquire good study and work habits.
    11. Assist the district's specialists in identifying and working with students with special needs.
    12. Plan and make arrangements for educational field trips, with the approval of the principal.
    13. Perform other instruction-related tasks as determined with the secondary principal.
