Position Overview:

Both independently and under supervision, performs a variety of patient care activities, primarily transporting patients, EKG testing for Inpatients, Outpatients and pediatric patients. Performs Treadmill testing, cardiac monitoring, medical gas support. Understands and utilizes proper lifting equipment and demonstrates appropriate ergonomics for patient and employee safety.

Job Description:

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma

  • Other: Some courses in the sciences are desirable.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider within 60 Days of hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • At least 1 year of volunteer or worked experience in a medical facility (either hospital or medical office).

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • The ability to read and write English and to make basic arithmetic calculations at a level for successful job performance.

  • Some knowledge of modern radiology equipment and techniques.

  • Some knowledge of radiology dark rooms and film processing.

  • Some knowledge of patient care, transport, and hospital procedures.

  • Ability to administer emergency first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

  • Working knowledge of clerical practices and procedures, business English and arithmetic, and medical terminology.

  • Understands the basic concepts of:

  • • Performance Improvement

  • • MSDS Program.

  • • Infection Control.

  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members from all departments.

  • Maintains a positive attitude.

  • Able to adjust in a positive manner to changes in work schedules and assignments based on the needs of the department.

  • Able to problem solve effectively.

  • Capable of effectively utilizing the hospitals and laboratory’s Information System.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a minimal amount of supervision.

  • Maintains an effective, uncluttered, and safe working environment.

  • Good communication skills (both orally and in writing).

  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team or committee.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Demonstrates positive customer relations.

  • Ability to prioritize and successfully complete their assigned workload in a stressful environment.

  • Ability to function under the direction of a Supervising Rad Tech or Rad Tech in the absence of a Rad Tech Supervisor.

  • Follows established (hospital and laboratory) policies and procedures.

  • Ability to deal tactfully and sympathetically with patients.

  • Able to accurately register patients into the HIS.

  • Maintains good basic work habits (i.e., arriving to work on time, takes their lunches/breaks according to established procedures).

  • Completion of other duties or assignments as required.

  • The incumbent serves neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

  • May be assigned to observe cardiac monitors of patients in the Coronary Care unit or Telemetry.

  • Able to perform EKGs.
