Pro Staff is actively recruiting for a Maintenance Operator position in Muscatine, IA, offering a fantastic direct-hire opportunity with one of the largest North American producers of steel plate and coil. This company serves diverse industrial markets, including energy, construction, agriculture, and transportation.


Schedule: Rotating Shifts

Pay: $18.07/hr. + Bonus

As a Maintenance Operator, you will play a vital role in performing preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize production delays in the Mill. Duties include following all maintenance Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and adhering to SSAB's safety policies.


Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Performing assigned preventative maintenance tasks and conduct repairs on rolling mill and finishing equipment
  • Fabricating and assembling new equipment and rebuild components used in the rolling mill and finishing equipment
  • Evaluating equipment performance and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical components
  • Utilizing SSAB's computerized maintenance system for work orders, spare parts, etc. and adhere to safe work practices, Lockout/tag-out/try-out programs, and JSA and EIC Program and Policies


Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Knowledge of industrial electricity and PLCs. Previous industrial experience. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Basic Microsoft Office suite computer skills. Associates degree or certificate in the mechanical or electrical field. Minimum of 5 years of heavy industrial experience. Experience with overhead crane systems, including controls and mechanical components. NFPA 70E training highly desirable. Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
