Cashier

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality individual with a great customer service aptitude and a passion for retail/hardware. This is a vibrant role with our industry's regional leader. Sonny's Ace Home Center in Canon City, a Mead Lumber Company, features a great line up of quality building materials, millwork, hardware, tools and much more.

We are looking for Part-time and Full-time cashiers.

The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to provide excellent customer service, accurately and efficiently process transactions, and maintain a clean and organized checkout area as well as support store management and team associates.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
• Learn proper procedures for orders, special orders, purchase orders, returns, payment on account, and merchandise receiving.
• Greet customers as they enter the store and thank each customer as they exit the store.
• Answer incoming phone calls in a pleasant and effective manner.
• Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
• Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers.
• Process customers quickly, efficiently and effectively.
• Process cash, credit card and charge transactions accurately following all company procedures.
• Issue proper receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers.
• Count cash drawer at opening and close every day.

Qualifications:

• Previous cashier experience preferred but will train the right candidate.
• Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash register, preferred.
• Basic computer, math, and technical skills required.
• Proficient with handling money
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
