This full time position works a split shift Monday - Thursday 8 am-noon and 3 pm-8 pm and Friday from 8 am - noon.

KROC CENTER MISSION

In keeping with the mission of The Wisconsin and Upper Mi Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center located in Green Bay, WI provides facilities, programs and services that strengthen, encourage and enrich children, adults, and seniors through positive life-changing experiences.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Lead Child Watch Attendant's primary responsibilities are to assist the Membership Services Manager with the development and training of Child Watch Attendants, patiently supervise multiple children as well as planning activities to entertain, teach, and mentor young children while their parents/guardians participate in Kroc programs and events.

  1. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable on Child Watch programs and services.
  2. Proactively ensure a safe environment for all Kroc Center staff, volunteers and children in the Child Watch area.
  3. Schedules Child Watch staff, monitors and reports to Membership Services Manager on the work performance of the attendants.
  4. Assist in training and development of Child Watch Attendants.
  5. Participate in activities with young children in Child Watch.
  6. Assist in the planning, directing and guidance of the programs and activities of Child Watch.
  7. Assist in the development of systems that safeguard all facilities, supplies and equipment related to the programs.
  8. Utilize the office support system that will allow for timely and accurate record keeping, including the areas of statistical reports related to all Child Watch programs and other reporting as required.
  9. Ensure the attractive appearance, operational function, and general upkeep of the Child Watch area including equipment, toys and furnishings. Assist in the procurement, maintenance and repair of equipment, toys and furnishings as necessary.
  10. Participate in designated staff meetings, training and professional development courses as directed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school degree or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of related experience caring for children.

- OR -

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant to obtained within 30 days of hire. Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.

This job is performed in a childcare environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment can vary from low to moderate depending on the number of children in the area.

For other duties of this job, such as overseeing the outdoor space adjacent the Child Watch area, outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.

This job requires the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
