SolidProfessor is looking for a talented and experienced Sr. Software QA Engineer to join our growing team! The Sr. Software QA Engineer role entails a multifaceted set of responsibilities, emphasizing both technical expertise and leadership capabilities. This individual will collaborate closely with team leads to develop testing strategies for complex projects, providing mentorship and guidance to mid and junior teammates to ensure adherence to industry standards. They will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing testing practices, conducting thorough peer reviews and advocating for standard processes that elevate team performance. Proficiency in Behavior Driven Development (BDD) principles and automation tools like Cypress.io or Selenium, along with an expertise in automation is crucial. Mastery of Agile methodologies and Jira proficiency are prerequisites, along with a keen focus on writing automated tests utilizing Gherkin and Cypress. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary technical skills as well as demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, taking ownership of challenges and driving them to resolution with diligence and perseverance. They will uphold accountability for their actions and decisions, acknowledging and rectifying any mistakes or shortcomings. Moreover, they will exhibit strong follow-through, consistently seeing tasks and projects through to completion and delivering results that meet or exceed expectations. WHAT WILL I BE DOING IN THIS SR. SOFTWARE QA ENGINEER ROLE?

  • Work with the senior developers to map out testing strategies for larger and complex projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to for mid and junior teammates, ensuring adherence, to best practices and standards.
  • Conduct peer reviews of tests, offering constructive feedback and guidance to ensure robust testing practices.
  • Champion standard processes that set our team ahead of the game.
  • Utilize Cucumber and Gherkin to write and maintain feature tests in alignment with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) principles.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Cypress io and/or JavaScript to automate testing processes, contributing to the development of automated test suites.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS SR. SOFTWARE QA ENGINEER ROLE?

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree in computer science, or computer information systems.
  • 7+ years working as a QA engineer or SDET conducting automated frontend + backend testing of web applications and APIs.
  • 7+ years of creating and maintain a suite of automated tests.
    • We use to automate our tests.
    • We will consider experience writing tests in Selenium as substitute. Know that we write JavaScript code using to implement step definitions written in Gherkin.
    • Experience utilizing Cypress Cloud is a plus!
  • 5+ years of writing and automating gherkin feature tests with in the BDD framework.
  • 5+ years of experience working in Agile teams, preferably with SCRUM.
  • Flexible, adaptable, assertive, and persuasive, and able to learn quickly, multitask, analyze, and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Personable with an excellent work ethic, a "whatever it takes" positive, solution-oriented attitude, and the confidence and drive to deliver results in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Autonomous, self-driven, detail-oriented, excellent communicator with outstanding time management and interpersonal skills (empathetic, team player, problem solver with excellent conflict management skills.
  • Availability to work Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-5:00 pm in the Eastern time zone.

SolidProfessor has determined that the new hire pay range for this role is between $97,900 and $122,400. Your base pay will be based on a number of factors, including knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Since we appreciate transparency, we are sharing that we expect to hire for this position up to mid-range (dependent on experience/location), which will allow you the opportunity to progress as you grow in your career.
