Job Description

Hiring a family practice provider (Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathy) to work at Horn Physicians Clinic. Primary location is Ida Grove, Iowa, but may be asked to float to other area clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides primary health care to patients of the clinic under the Medical Direction of the clinic's Medical Director and according to the policies and procedures of the clinic.
  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients and reviews patient records.
  • Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
  • Performs a complete physical exam and records findings and establishes presumptive diagnoses.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plan utilizing principle of prevention.
  • Administers injections, immunizations and oral medicals if necessary. Sutures wounds.
  • Prepares electronic prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
  • Interviews and advises patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, recommending community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Records patient progress note, issues diagnostic orders, and transcribes orders.
  • Makes necessary referrals and/or consultations that cannot be provided at the clinic.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Program and residency and be licensed in the state where the clinic is established. Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Iowa.
  • Job Knowledge: Knowledge of general medical services and practice, including biological, physical, social, and medical sciences and their application as it relates to patient care. Familiarity with basic organization and function of clinic and all policies, regulations, and procedures of the hospital/clinic.
  • Computer literacy required.
