Robert Half is seeking an ambitious Controller to become a vital part at an esteemed manufacturing company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Mount Vernon, Missouri area.


How you will make an impact


- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques


- Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities


- Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis


- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible


- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports


- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll


- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation


- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash


- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis


- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies


- Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- CPA/MBA preferred

- Manufacturing Cost Accounting experience

- Solid understanding of Controllership

- Experience with GAAP Accounting

- QuickBooks experience

- Strong familiarity with SOX
