Title: Material Expeditor

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Hours: 4:00PM - 4:00AM; 3 days on, 4 days off (Shift 2A)

Responsible for the flow of materials through departments to conform to production schedules.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Ensure correct amount and type of stock are at pressures according to schedule. Press downtime should never be caused by insufficient stock or the wrong type of stock at press.
  3. Return unused stock to warehouse.
  4. Responsible for accurate inventory management which includes computer entries and stock size changes.
  5. Deliver all non-stock items received to appropriate person or area.
  6. Ensure aisles are not block and that the stock press has a neat appearance.
  7. Ensure accurate stock use recording.
  8. Must communicate with lead press operator to meet scheduling needs.
  9. Ensure that the next shift presses are stocked according to the schedule to reduce the amount of downtime.
  10. Assist during physical inventory.
  11. Responsible for using all material transporting equipment in a safe manner.
  12. Back up the material handler.
  13. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  14. Properly dispose of waste ink, spent solvents, and other designed waste according to hazardous waste handling guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Must be certified to operate a forklift.
  2. Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
  3. Knowledge of the English language and the ability to write legibly.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  5. Ability to operate a computer.
  6. Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
  7. Ability to meet deadlines. May be required to work some overtime.
  8. Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
  10. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  11. Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time (i.e. stacking rolls, utility knife, etc.); and reach above shoulder for 25% of work time.
  12. Ability to lift: 10 pounds or less 20% of work time; 25 pounds or less 20% of work time; 50 pounds or less 50% of work time and 100 pounds or less 10% of work time. (Example: Stock on to and off of the power hand card to skid approximately 6 ft.)

Working Conditions

  1. May work near moving mechanical parts.
  2. May work with a variety of chemicals.
  3. May have exposure to vibrations, noise, strobe/flashing light and chemical odors.
