Description:

Under general supervision, enforces all facility policies, rules, and regulations for the Logan Aquatic Center (LAC). Report to Recreation Superintendent and/or Aquatic Coordinator.

APPLICANTS: This position posting will establish a hiring roster that will be used to fill seasonal vacancies from May - September 2024. Applicants, please note when you are available for employment.

Qualifications:

Must be 16 years of age or older. Requires the ability to effectively meet and deal with the public, ability to communicate verbally and in writing, ability to handle stressful situations. Applicants must be a strong swimmer and work well with others. Concentrated mental application required. Applicant must be a self-starter, strong swimmer, and excellent physical condition must be maintained. Applicant must be able to work hours determined by a weekly work schedule. This includes morning, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Responsibilities:

Implements the American Red Cross Learn to swim program a WSI is responsible for preparing, implementing, and evaluating each swim lesson assigned. As a Swim Instructor you are required to teach a minimum of 2 swim lesson sessions during the swim season.

Monitors water activities to assure safety and prevent accident or injury to patrons. Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies. Perform first aid as needed. Inspects the facility on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to Aquatic Coordinator or shift lead. Complete records and reports as needed. Participates in all staff training and programs. Excellent customer service skills as you will have continuous contact with the public requiring tact and patience.

Performs a variety of routine cleaning tasks and additional duties as assigned or directed such as picking up trash, emptying garbage, washing and cleaning windows, and performing general cleanup.

CERTIFICATIONS: Position requires the following current American Red Cross certifications: Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid.
