Job Description
Identifies and implements improvements of existing equipment and installation. In consultation with Maintenance and Production leadership, helps ensure work schedules are aligned with business plan objectives. Continuously improves equipment and system reliability using preventive and predictive maintenance systems, failure analysis and root cause analysis. Expected to lead the Mechanical Integrity program (PSM) and TA planning efforts.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Improves the reliability of the plant and the equipment by developing and optimizing preventative maintenance practices and using predictive technologies.
Ø Drafts equipment specifications for specific process applications and contribute to projects during planning, scoping and design review phases.
Ø Enhances Safety, Health, and Environment by improving the aging equipment in the plant.
Ø Drives quality improvement in the maintenance department and work processes by introducing new technologies and processes.
Ø Performs root cause analysis of failed components, implement repair strategies and track results.
Ø Maintains applicable required documentation and makes sure all efforts comply with relevant codes and regulations such as OSHA PSM, MOCs, etc.
Ø Participates in PHAs and audits related to the area of responsibility.
Ø Supports and provides input on turn-around activities during all stages to meet time and budget constraints.
Ø Develops strategies and follows up on annual and long-term opportunities for equipment.
Ø Manages the maintenance budget under the guidance of Maintenance and Plant leadership.
Ø Provides technical support to the capital organization for evaluation of system design reliability.
Ø Guides the troubleshooting, repair, and refurbishment of plant mechanical systems.
Ø Actively participates in the Maintenance work teams to improve performance.
Ø Develops and implements training of both operations and maintenance personnel as needed for MI and Reliability purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v BS in Mechanical Engineering
v Minimum of 10 years of reliability engineering experience within the petrochemical industry.
v Experience with CMMS tools (SAP, SAP-Primavera & Maximo).
v Familiar with fixed equipment design, installation, and maintenance, including tanks, vessels, piping etc.
v Familiar with rotating equipment design, installation, and maintenance, including hands-on troubleshooting of pumps, compressors, centrifuges, and extruders.
v Thorough knowledge of plant operations in relation to maintenance activities.
v Basic understanding of business and economic measures, including cost accounting.
v Good interpersonal skills. Position requires productive interactions with multiple people at different levels within the company, contractors, vendors and periodically with customers.
