At Heartland Building Center, a Mead Lumber Company, one of our six Core Values is “Unmatched Customer Service." As a Driver / Yard Associate, you will be on the front lines of making that happen. You will drive company vehicles to deliver merchandise to customer jobsites and assist in the unloading of materials to the customer’s satisfaction.

Mead Lumber, founded in 1910, is 100% Employee Owned, and listed in the Lumber Building Materials Journal as the 18 largest Pro Contractor lumber/building materials retailer in the country. Mead operates 52 Lumber Yard, Retail, Truss Plant, and Component locations across nine Midwestern states.

Drivers / Yard Associates are primarily responsible for receiving and stocking materials and product, loading customers, and driving company vehicles to deliver merchandise to customer jobsites as well as assisting in the unloading of materials.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Load and deliver building materials to job sites.
  • Check accuracy of loads and verify each load prior to leaving the yard.
  • Receive building materials and correctly stock and label products.
  • Operate a Forklift
  • Safely drive vehicles and machinery ensuring to obey traffic laws.
  • Track customer orders.
  • Follow yard loading, yard delivery, and yard security procedures.
  • Complete deliveries in a timely manner.
Education, Skills, & Experience:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy material regularly.
  • Capability to work well with others.
  • Reliable and self motivated.
