POSITION SUMMARY:   

Direct and manage all manufacturing operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality, and other production-related activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.       Coordinate manufacturing department activities through the planning with sewing supervisors to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.

2.      Develop and control profits, plans, and budget.

3.      Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.

4.      Must achieve customer required quality standards.

5.      Establish and monitor overall mfg dept performance for production by using the following methods but not limited to

 

·         Calculate takt time-based S&OP input and achieve takt time 80% of the time

·         Maintain balanced lines to improve flow

·         A minimum of 60% efficiency is required on a weekly basis and maintain an average

·         Of 70% efficiency in all production lines

·         Maintain ratio of direct labor hours worked by employees under the Ability-One program to stay consistent with the organizational goal of 75%

·         Monitor direct labor hours worked by employees not participating in the Ability-One program to stay consistent with the organizational goal not to exceed 25% ratio

                                        

6.      Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses.

7.       Assist in maintaining existing mfg dept facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to mfg dept facilities and equipment when necessary.

 

8.      Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

·         Ongoing learning is imperative for continuous improvement to further develop      knowledge, skills and abilities

·         Develop and create world class subordinates by demonstrating proper leadership skills

 

9.      Verify that preventative maintenance programs are in place.

10.   Incorporate manufacturing floor organization and mfg plant cleanliness among dept personnel.

11.    Provide direction, development and leadership to sewing supervisors by teaching and creating the following tools but not limited to.

 

·         Pareto charts, root cause analysis, problem solving, implement corrective actions, Poka Yoke (error prevention)   

·         Value Stream Mapping tool, including Current State and Future State

           

12.    Manage subordinate supervisors who supervise employees; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of assigned dept. 

 

·         Create a positive and supportive environment for all production teams

·         Must discipline subordinates not performing to company standards

·         Improper behavior and/or discipline employees; address complaints and resolving problems

 

13.   Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations’ policies and applicable laws

·         May not accept gifts and/or monetary compensation form subordinates

·         Negative motivation and undue pressure to subordinates will not be tolerated

         

14.   Responsible for interviewing and hiring employees; plan, assign, train, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolving problems.

15.   Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

 

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:  Bachelor's degree in related field and/or five years sewing plant management experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Experience: Strong background working with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures required.

 

Specific Skills: English proficiency/ Spanish proficiency is helpful. Strong mathematical skills, strong analytical skills, ability to work in changing environment, self motivated, strong administrative skills, ability to read and interpret written Engineering methods, basic knowledge of sewing equipment and operations, and basic computer skills. 

 

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: None required.


 

Other Skills and Abilities: Good oral and written communications skills required. Ability to use general office equipment, i.e. facsimile, photocopy, and/or related office peripherals. Knowledge of MS Office Software. Knowledge of Texas Workers Compensation Act regulations and policies. Knowledge of non-subscriber policies and ERISA Plan.
