Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of quality food ingredients and products, has an immediate need for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic, to join their winning team in Countryside. Our candidate of choice will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, equipment changeover, facility upkeep, and other duties as assigned. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES: Adhere to all SQF/customer directives which are designed to support food safety. Follow instructions given by the Maintenance Supervisor. Must be able to communicate in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus. Maintain equipment powered by: Electric, Air, Hydraulic, Steam (low to 90 psig). Complete PM schedule requirements. Perform repair and maintenance tasks using a variety of hand and power tools. Set-up/change over equipment. Clerical duties such as completing necessary documentation (i.e., work orders) timely and routinely. Document work performed and parts usage via CMMS. Communicate effectively with site supervisors and line personnel. Follow verbal and written instructions for machine set-up, operation, and cleaning. Have a general operating knowledge of all equipment on site. Attend pre-production meetings as well as other specified meetings. Take part in various meetings and supply input: Safety, Quality, New product development, R&D, etc. Obtain approval on preventive maintenance as well as non-routine maintenance tasks when completed so that Line Supervisors are aware or can confirm sanitation activities are sufficient. Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance. Support other departments as required. Work with contractors and ensure they adhere to corporate policies regarding GMP’s and HACCP. KEY REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical or Professional certification preferred and/or completion of an appropriate apprenticeship program. 5+ years of experience and/or equivalent training in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to read blueprints, P&ID’s, wiring schematics Excellent communication skills Strong knowledge of safety awareness Computer literacy Sound analytical thinking Objective (documented) evaluation of personnel observations Flexibility, willingness, time urgency Effective communicator to inter-departmental supervisors and staff, and contractors Good organizational skills and time management Attention to detail Certified Forklift Driver Please apply today to be one of the first people considered for this position!
