Job Description
The Electrical & Process Controls Construction Field Support specialist will be responsible for providing Electrical and Process Control Construction Field Support services for the Client and Project Team during the design, installation and startup of assigned projects.

This position supports the on-site design and constructions activities. A working relationship will exist with all company project and support personnel. A close working relationship will exist with project team members, Client team members, vendors and contractors to assist in project objectives being met.

Responsibilities
  • Observe construction activities to monitor adherence to project and design intents.
  • Provide on-site construction support for contractor inquiries and information flow to Client and other disciplines.
  • Interface with internal, external, and contractor on-site engineers and specialists assigned to support the project.
  • Assist in the coordination of construction activities and commissioning of systems and equipment.
  • Perform field surveys in preparation for construction reviews and to report on adherence to project and design specifications.
  • Meet with Client and construction personnel to assist in preliminary planning and identifying design or construction concepts.
  • Meet with local, state or federal government personnel as either the Client’s representative or advisor to discuss or secure approvals as appropriate.
  • Meet with vendors or contractor personnel as either the Client’s representative or advisor to discuss specific related details of the project.
  • Assist in the preparation and / or implementation of construction and bid documents by the engineer of record, such as: drawings, equipment and construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering schedules, installation details, operation manuals, and related details for projects as may be required.
  • Organize construction and bid packages to verify all required documentation is included and issued.
  • Review vendor drawings to verify drawings and equipment supplied provide the detailed information or materials required for construction needs.
  • Review construction and bid packages prior to formal issue to verify adherence to Client policies and standards.
  • Assist in obtaining bids for construction, selection of contractor, and act as liaison during construction.
  • Perform shop inspections and/or vendor expediting during equipment fabrication.
  • Perform administrative and other miscellaneous tasks as may be required.

Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC and electrical construction methods and materials.
  • Experience in design of electrical and/or process control systems or electrical maintenance or engineering.
  • Experience with electrical systems and / or process control in the Pulp and Paper industry is preferred. Experience in other light and heavy industry is also acceptable.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Proficiency in CAD software a plus, but not required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable with working in a team environment.
