Job Description
Position - Adjunct Instructor -Music & Theatre – School of Performing Arts
Contracted on a per-semester basis, the position will provide direct instruction to students by teaching classes, developing course outlines, assessing student progress, and utilizing the University’s assigned technology to maintain appropriate records. Avila University is seeking adjunct instructors for various music and theatre courses. Part Time teaching responsibilities will include:
- Lectures and/or applied courses for:
- Theatre History
- Theatre – General Education and Interdisciplinary
- Global Music Appreciation
- String Lessons – String Chamber Ensemble Conduction
- Conduct all class sessions according to the assigned schedule (in-person and/or online).
- Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
- Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience.
- Work effectively with the program Chair and/or Production Managers.
- Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses.
- Remote appointments possible depending on course needs and at the discretion of the Dean.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities or a Master's degree in another area with 18 credit hours of discipline graduate coursework from an accredited university/college
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching,
- Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred),
- Experience with a Learning Management System such as Canvas (preferred).
- Multilingual skills highly preferred.

Stipend based on the credit hours assigned and previous teaching experience.
