Lead Pool Attendant

 

The City of Athens is seeking individuals who enjoy working outdoors to join our pool staff. This is a seasonal position expected to last about 120 days and is covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act. The starting pay rate is $14.00/hr. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Job Summary:

The Lead Pool Attendant is responsible for managing head pool attendants and pool attendants. In addition, Lead Pool Attendants are responsible communicating closures and announcements, assists with purchasing and inventory, monitors breaks for minors and may have “on-call” hours. Lead Pool Attendants may also perform regular duties of pool attendants to include admission of patrons into the pool and/or to work any of the concession areas at the pool; may have to work the pool slide and splash pad; may have the ability to teach swim lessons. This is a temporary, seasonal position in the Arts, Parks and Recreation Department.

 

Job Duties:

  • Supervise Head Pool Attendants and Pool Attendants, schedule, and prepare time sheets.
  • Act as the shift supervisor and report to the Program Specialist for Parks and Recreation.
  • Handle communications between lifeguard staff and pool attendant staff.
  • Handle patron complaints and resolve issues.
  • Provide assistance with swim lesson scheduling and registering.
  • Handle reservation requests.
  • Pre-opening duties such as preparing register drawers, preparing food, cleaning, etc.
  • Keep work area clean and sanitary, including utensils and concession equipment.
  • Collect money for admission or food sales, make change accurately and as necessary.
  • Maintain reports and records as required, including sales, daily tabulation sheets, nightly deposits, etc.
  • Ring out and close drawers as directed.
  • Participate in all staff training programs, staff meetings and evaluations.
  • Periodic cleaning duties each shift and at closing to include taking out the trash, restocking toilet paper as needed in restrooms, cleaning spills, etc.
  • Other supervisory duties as assigned.

 

Job Specifications and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to accurately make change.
  • Ability to operate concession equipment such as popcorn machine, etc.
  • Prior experience in fast food restaurant and/or as a cashier desirable.
  • Candidates must have reasonable weekend availability. 

The City may consider any other equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
