Position: Elder Care Clinician

Department/Program: Center for Counseling & Psychological Services (CCPS)/Elder Care Services

Reporting to: Division Co-Director

Overview:  This is a unique full-time position to provide assessment, psychotherapy, and social support services with clients aged sixty and over utilizing an outreach-based approach for 30 hours per week as well as the opportunity to work in our Outpatient office setting providing psychotherapy for 10 hours per week to the community at large. For the Eldercare portion of this position, services will be provided primarily in older Vermonter’s homes. For the Outpatient portion of this position, services will provide primarily in one of our office-based settings.  While a focal point of the Eldercare portion of this position will be to provide service in the Lamoille County geographical area, the opportunity will also be available to potentially meet with clients throughout the tri-county area that our program serves (Lamoille, Washington, and Orange).  Specific training and experience in geriatrics or gerontology is a plus, as is a commitment to a strength-based approach aimed at maximizing our client’s independence.  Applicant must be comfortable working independently, with the knowledge that supervision and a supportive team approach is available when needed.

Qualification:  

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or associated field
  • License eligible - MSW, LICSW, LCMHC, or MFT preferred
  • At least one year experience providing psychotherapy (more experienced clinicians encouraged to apply)

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing during therapy sessions and administrative tasks.
  • Effective verbal communication, including the ability to clearly convey information both in-person and over the phone.
  • Basic manual dexterity to handle documentation and computer-related tasks
  • Mobility to move within the office environment and between different work locations
