SUMMARY: Emergency Vehicle Group, Inc. is a leading emergency vehicle dealer and service center for fire apparatus, ambulances, command, and specialty vehicles that is adding to our service operations.

We are seeking an entry level mechanic that is detailed oriented and has a passion to accelerate their career to work on fire apparatus (Fire Trucks), ambulances, and other emergency vehicles. Experience with shop equipment, heavy truck components, general tools, knowledge of vehicle detailing wash, polish, and color sanding is a plus!

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform work as directed by Shop Foreman and Service Manager.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy truck chassis and fire components/ambulances.
  • Perform full details on all vehicles includes, wash, buff, polish, etc.
  • Pick up and delivery of customer vehicles.
  • Performs road tests on vehicles to assure proper operating levels.
  • Processes and tracks repair orders.
  • Operates computer to document repair work and maintenance daily.
  • Ensures shop cleanliness and maintenance on a regular basis.
  • Monitors and advises all safety related issues related to the shop area, vehicles and wherever maintenance is being performed.
  • Travel to customers’ sites for repairs as needed. Available to perform emergency repair work after hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Reads and follows simple to entry level instructions, schematics and other information contained in repair manuals or the diagnosis and repair of fire and EMS vehicles and equipment.
  • Performs calculations and works with numbers to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of detail products and replated shop equipment.
  • Pays attention to detail while ensuring crews observe safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions.
  • Appropriately records repairs and parts used.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED and 1+ year mechanical repair and maintenance work or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Class C or Class B or A CDL Driver’s License preferred.

• ASE Mechanic certification preferred.

• Must obtain Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT)certification within 1 year of hire date.

• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, criminal background, and MVR check.
