Strategist II Intellectual Disablilities Teacher
2024-2025 School Year
Contract Length: TBD (.50 FTE)
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Education in a field applicable to special education teaching. Strategist II endorsement with BD/ID background required. SPED Teaching and Strat II/ID Endorsement License issued by Iowa BOEE.
- Prior job related experience
- working with children with intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Minimum two years of school experiences within a PS-12 setting working with behavior needs preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as building principals may find acceptable
OTHER LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training within 6 months from date of hire; completion of all Iowa required mandatory training as per district timelines.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district approved curriculum, documenting student progress and outcomes, addressing specific educational needs of individual students and creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment. Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Works collaboratively with the building principal, general education teachers and parents/guardians to provide the appropriate engaging and challenging learning environment.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy enabling differentiation
- Knowledge of special education law, Department of Education requirements, and best practice.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Ability to use computer network system, technology devices, and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, coworkers and the greater community.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
- Communicating with staff and parents regarding behavior management of students. Including writing IEPS (PWN, FBA and BIPs) accordingly.
- Develops learning materials and reinforces strategies according to the student's needs.
