Job Summary:

The Maintenance/Handyman is a daily, hands-on position that is responsible for the maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities used by NEW Care, Inc.  The individual selected will be responsible for electrical, mechanical and plumbing related repairs. Will be engaged with other indoor maintenance personnel, as well as the landscape maintenance employee to ensure the exterior areas are kept in good condition. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments of the maintenance department.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and performs or assists with general building maintenance and cleaning.

  • Performs electrical repairs in community areas, including lights and laundry.

  • Ensures mechanical equipment is in working order and fixed as necessary.

  • Along with other maintenance personnel repairs doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs and other parts of the building.

  • Installs and replaces floors, stairs and piping as needed.

  • Maintains trash and recycling receptacles around the facility.

  • Maintains and repairs air conditioning and heating systems as required.

  • Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment and facilities.

  • Maintains the inventory, storage, and distribution of equipment.

  • Provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment.

  • Collaborates with other appropriate management staff to prepare and implement budget.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn the equipment and facilities to be maintained.

  • Ability to maintain basic records and warranties.

  • Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to complete and maintain records.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical and customer service knowledge.

  • Skilled in a wide range of areas but will be able to recognize when a repair is outside of their skill set and make a recommendation to supervisor.

  • Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.

  • HVAC knowledge and repair skills.

  • Experience installing and replacing plumbing systems.

  • Strong communications skills.

  • Self-starter with good time management skills.
