Title: Pat-Time Front Desk Representative

Department: Front Desk

Reports To: Front Desk Supervisor

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

General Purpose of Job/Summary:

The Front Desk Representative will support the medical practice office by relaying the most positive and professional image possible to patients visiting our clinics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting them in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members

  • Register new patients and update existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information

  • Verify insurance eligibility through electronic resources

  • Collect patient’s out-of-pocket liability (co-pays, prior balances, co-insurance & deductibles)

  • Work-up schedules prior to appointment to ensure prior authorization was obtained

  • Check patients out and reschedule per doctor's instructions

  • Protect patient confidentiality by ensuring documentation is scanned correctly into patient’s Electronic Medical Record

  • Maintain Front Desk office inventory and equipment thorough the inventory control system

  • Assist ill or distraught patients as needed

  • Maintain patient areas in a neat and orderly condition, including but not limited to the coffee bar, waiting rooms, and restrooms

  • Schedule tests, scans, and outside appointments for patients as needed

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Associate degree or higher preferred

  • At least 1 year of Medical Clinic experience (or equivalent) required

  • Working knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook and Ex
