Position:

The Director - Financial Planning & Analysis position is a highly interactive position within the Finance Department at National LISC. The Director will report to the Senior Director of Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis and must be able to interact confidently and clearly with local LISC staff from around the country, as well as senior management, on a regular basis. The Director will work across LISC's local and national programs to monitor fiscal health, assist in budget creation (at the program and individual grant levels), aid in compliance and reporting and will more generally serve as a centralized resource to the Market in terms of answering questions and providing advice.

Working closely with local and national programs, this position will oversee cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and resource planning, while contributing to maintaining the financial stability of all programs that report up to the SVP, Market Excellence Division, and SVP National Programs including 30+ local areas and 10+ national programs, in a large, complex national non-profit. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds. High attention to detail and the ability to work closely and communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders on local and national program performance is required, as is extensive and advanced working knowledge of Excel.

Responsibilities:

Program Budgeting

  • Direct annual budget process for LISC's portfolio of local and national programs, working closely with program directors, Market staff and relevant national departments to develop budgets that align with programmatic goals
  • Assist EDs and Program Directors with understanding how to interpret financial reports and assess their financial performance
  • Work directly with Market directors and staff to ensure that program budgets meet both operational and programmatic needs; identify problems and issues before they escalate
  • Using historical trend analysis and a working knowledge of local conditions, help to streamline the budget process for directors so that individual budgets are more accurate and useful as tools to improve business performance
  • Serve as frontline quality control for program budgets before incorporation in the Corporate budget

Program Forecasting

  • Perform variance analyses on budgets/forecasts with actuals, routinely monitoring and evaluating the financial position of local/national Prepare financial forecasts on a quarterly basis that roll up into the corporate forecast
  • Manage the building and maintenance of rolling forecasts for the Market, including sources/uses 'cash' flow reports
  • Meet quarterly with program leadership to discuss budget vs. actual performance and full-year forecast
  • Review non-budgeted expense requests (hiring, consultants, rent, etc.) and prepare sources/ uses analysis needed for approval process
  • Collaborate strongly with the National Finance, Grants & Contracts Management, and Development departments to make sure information is readily available across LISC

Grant Planning & Compliance

  • Working directly with the Market, oversee local/national program private revenue planning, ensuring that campaigns meet operational and programmatic needs
  • Serve as a resource for program directors, providing hands-on assistance to create individual grant budgets that adhere to best practices to achieve adequate operating and program support. Incorporate indirect in accordance with LISC's government and private indirect framework. Participate in NISOP as needed
  • Liaise between the Market and LISC's Development department to make sure that the relevant information needed in Salesforce is entered completely, accurately and timely
  • Ensure programs are appropriately allocating salary and fringe across funding sources, minimizing the need for retroactive adjustments. Review and submit for Accounting approval all government grant financial reports and all reports for private grants of $500K and greater

Technology Systems Support

  • Serve as a centralized resource for local and national programs regarding how to use LISC's various systems, including NetSuite, Vena, Domo and the PA system
  • Work collaboratively with other departments including Accounting and IT to help implement any systems change requests, including requests related to financial reporting at the programmatic level

Workplan - Budget Alignment

  • Work closely with Market Excellence Division, program directors and program staff to better align each Market site's workplan with its annual budget/forecast
  • Explore potential technology solutions using LISC's existing systems, such as Vena, to aid in workplan creation and workplan-budget alignment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7+ years work experience including 3+ years management experience required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, or Business or related discipline required, Master's Degree Preferred
  • Prior work-related experience in budgeting and financial/cash flow management, at both the macro (program/organizational) and micro (individual grant) levels
  • Very good knowledge of LISC's programmatic initiatives; first-hand experience working with Market programs is preferred
  • Experience using key financial performance indicators and other numerical analysis to inform medium to long-range strategic planning
  • Prior work with consulting and government contracts (local, state, national)
  • Sound financial and analytical skills, excellent judgment
  • Strong computer skills with fluency in learning new financial and SaaS systems; highly proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and the PA system
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas succinctly and in a compelling fashion
  • Experience coordinating and conducting training sessions for diverse groups of attendees
  • Good organizational abilities with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-player, but able to work independently

Compensation: LISC offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, $109,055 - $128,300

Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
