West Fraser's Henderson, TX Lumber Mill is looking for an experienced heavy equipment operator.

What you will do:  This operator will have a variety of jobs involving the moving of material from one part of the mill to the other by way of loader. Job may involve, but not be limited to, loading of bark, chips, and dust from ground, maintaining roads, spreading of rocks, cleaning out from under truck bins, spreading of tree-length logs on storage pad, loading of oversized logs on outbound trucks, handling of metal logs and general clean-up and yard maintenance.

  1. Operates Cat 988 or 966 front end loader.
  2. Must be able to perform all required P/M’s and pre-start checks on equipment.
  3. Cleans up at truck bins (notifies debarker operator when using the bark reclaim system)
  4. General cleanup of log storage area, including areas from the parking lot to the green stacker.
  5. Cleans under lay down decks as follows: at the end of each shift.
  6. Cleans up around silo.
  7. Maintains metal log recovery by utilizing the metal detector and chain saw.
  8. Requires the use of various hand tools, ax, crowbar, hammer, etc.
  9. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  10. Portions of the job duties may not be standardized or completely prescribed and will require independent action and thinking.
  11. Inspection of equipment
  12. Servicing and minor adjustments to the equipment (when necessary)
  13. Cleaning of the equipment
  14. Documentation and reporting of results

What you need to be successful:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to use basic tools
  • Must be safety orientated and comply with ZES
  • Must have minimum two years verifiable work experience as a heavy equipment operator
  • Must be able to work night shift
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, reference check and background check
  • Must have an excellent safety record
  • Must follow all company safety rules
  • Must have an excellent attendance record
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills
  • Must be willing to perform all job assignments in an effective and timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and front-end loaders efficiently
  • Must complete equipment checks and perform preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Ability to operate a knuckleboom unloading log trucks and comply with applicable safety regulations would be a plus
  • The applicant chosen for this position will be required to perform the following key phases of Basic Care
