DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Senior Center Operator 1 is a part-time position under the direct supervision of the Senior Centers Supervisor and is responsible for organizing, planning, and scheduling programs and activities as well as coordinating congregate meals and supervising volunteers at the Parker Senior Community Center. This position acts as an agency representative in all center related programs involving consumers. This includes responding to questions for information via email, in person, or over the telephone and making referrals to consumers to appropriate human service agencies or programs. As a friendly point of contact from senior center events, you have an excellent opportunity to help seniors learn about and obtain the benefits and services they are eligible to receive. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Part-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Armstrong County. If no eligible candidates who live within Armstrong County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
