Join us as a Production Supervisor and lead the charge in coordinating the daily operations of our production teams at the Ingersoll Rand Alsip IL plant. Your mission? You'll be hands-on in all aspects of employment, from performance evaluations to fostering positive associate relations and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a safe work place is provided for all employees; frequently inspects department for safety compliance. Completes accident or near miss investigations and schedules appropriate follow-up reviews; identifies areas of needed learning and conducts necessary training to create a zero accident environment.
  • Builds a high performing team by creating and implements engagement plans to create a work environment which grows and retains talent.  Collaborates with functional teams to establish and manage to headcount plan supporting recruiting, onboarding, training and retention efforts.
  • Supervises the activities of production associates to achieve key objectives with regard to safety, quality, cost, inventory management, delivery, down time reduction and employee engagement. Evaluates and engages in 2 way performance and development conversations with associates and completes necessary reports. Creates and implements training programs to ensure development and flexibility of the team.
  • Reviews daily and weekly shipping schedules and production capabilities to assure all deadlines are met. Checks running orders/query dispatch lists to determine schedule priorities. Coordinates and expedites hot parts and assigns rework. Create and maintain visual results boards and owns results.
  • Inspects and monitors production quality and equipment. Ensures quality procedures/practices are applied to the process, tooling, and equipment to achieve expected quality results.  Responds with urgency to improve quality control and reduce downtime.
  • Manages the effective utilization of materials to assure an appropriate amount of parts are available to maintain smooth production flow; completes bottleneck analysis in the workflow and implements lean solutions.
  • Builds a positive, respectful and engaged workforce – follows the CBA with consistency of application.
  • Leads communications to ensure the team is kept up to date on current concerns, activities and events impacting the production team, business and plant.
  • Builds a culture of continuous improvement through use of lean tools and stakeholder involvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Lean Manufacturing or Operational Excellence experience preferred
  • 3 + years Manufacturing leadership experience required; coupled with CNC production machining 
  • Hands on utilization of lean tools such as Takt Time, standard work, value stream mapping, %Load, 5s, Kanban, practical problem solving.
  • Pump manufacturing experience a real plus
  • Experience in union setting is strongly preferred
  • Successful history of developing teams, understanding the importance of engagement, and celebrating success
  • Strong communicator who can collaborate and cooperate with the ability to translate technical or complex information so it is easily understood
  • Successful history of working with deadlines to deliver goals and projects
