About the Opportunity:
∙ Job Title: Mechanic II
∙ Pay: $31-$33+/Hour
∙ Location: Vadnais Heights, MN
∙ Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Fri 5AM-2:30PM or 6AM-3:30PM with O/T available on Fridays
 
Daily functions:
  1. Under general supervision, uses build sheets to assemble components for build-to-sales order configurations and performs a wide variety of related mechanical assembly duties on prototype units.
  2. Troubleshoot equipment to evaluate needed repairs
  3. Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical problems and complete appropriate repairs
  4. Follow engineering drawings, bills of materials and request parts from the Parts Department as required
  5. Make changes in assembly process as required; document such changes and inform the production lead accordingly
  6. Lay out truck details per engineering prints on a job-by-job basis
  7. Perform final assembly of all units, including hoods, electric, lights, stickers to customers specifications
  8. Connect hydraulic lines and fills such with oil in preparation for required testing
  9. Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning, and installing parts then re-assemble unit by following procedures
  10. Test the assembled parts or products to ensure they are functioning properly and are of good quality
  11. Train and mentor Mechanic Assembler I
  12. Comply with workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices and procedures
  13. Maintain tools and the work space in good condition
  14. May perform reasonably similar or related duties as assigned
 
Desired qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent, required
  2. Formal training beyond high school (certification or associate’s degree in auto repair), preferred
  3. Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience
  4. Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment, preferred
  5. Familiarity with and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, gas and diesel systems
  6. Previous experience with heavy duty alignments, preferred 
  7. Strong interpersonal, problem solving and verbal communication skills
  8. Ability to read blue prints, hydraulic and electrical schematics
Physical requirements:
  1. Lifting up to 50lbs
  2. Perform repetitive work while moving around, under, and over equipment while on the production floor 95% of the time 
  3. Perform work outdoors in all weather 5% of the time
  4. Must be able to bend, stoop and crouch and stand for long periods of time
  5. Use hands and fingers to operate hand tools
