Job Title: Skilled Labor

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist company Superintendents, Foreman, QC Managers, and SSHOs with various task
  • Regular project status reports
  • Abide by all policies set by the company in the employee manual
  • Abide by and follow all safety regulations, maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment, and identify and report all potential hazards to proper personnel.
  • Work in a high-production environment
  • Safely and effectively assist other positions with various tasks - operate various hand and power tools, measuring/cutting lumber, nailing, retrieving material, rigging loads, signaling operators, holding stakeout tape, rod, plumb bob, prism, setting wood/steel, load/unload/clean trucks, shovel sand, dirt, and stone, loading, unloading, sorting, and organizing materials, general site cleanup, etc.
  • Setting up forms
  • Sawing, stripping, nailing, measuring, tightening/loosening bolts, and drilling
  • Cut, fit, and join construction materials
  • Operate power construction equipment
  • Perform basic carpentry
  • Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
  • Constructing and setting up the formwork for placement of concrete
  • Form, place, and finish concrete.
  • Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, and steel cables.
  • Plan, lay-out, and use appropriate power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts (Plan, layout, and use appropriate hand and power tools to complete various tasks according to specifications.)
  • Use floats, trowels, and screeds to level concrete
  • Place concrete into forms and finish according to specified textures
  • Vibrate, level, smooth, and shape the surface of the concrete
  • Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using a power grinder or chisel and hammer
  • Operate heavy equipment safely, productively, and efficiently.
  • The following machines, tools, and equipment are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. Actual machines, tools, and equipment used will vary.

    • Cure Bridge
    • Sweeper/Broom Truck
    • Water Truck
  • Turn valves to control air and water output of compressors and pumps
  • Adjusts control wheels, handles, and depresses pedals to drive machinery and control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms
  • Perform a daily heavy equipment walk-around inspection and preventative maintenance responsibilities
  • Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Comply with the Operations & Maintenance Guide for our core and secondary equipment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in construction or similar trade preferred
  • Experience in rigging and flagging cranes is a plus
  • 5 + years of experience in Rough Carpentry and Concrete work
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain military base access
  • Must have reliable means to arrive and leave work at the scheduled start and stop times
  • Communication Skills - Must be able to comprehend safety standards, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to understand information, ideas, and direction and perform the task or project discussed.

  • Ability to climb up and down a 6-foot step ladder and balance
  • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
  • Vision adequate to perform all tasks
  • Occasionally lift and/or push/pull approximately 50 pounds up to 25 feet
  • Occasionally lift and/or push/pull approximately 50 pounds to a surface approximately 12 inches off the ground

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks
  • Employee is regularly exposed to noise, dust, and various types of smells
  • Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Employee must be able to properly use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, and outside weather conditions
  • Employee is expected to work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work area
