Summary
A machinist forms and shapes material with lathes, drill presses, mill, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplication and profile machines. A machinist will be expected to manufacture and repair parts associated with the repair of casting equipment as well any outside jobs that come in to the shop.

The right candidate will

  • Operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) or manual machinery that mills, punches, drills, and broaches. Operates lathes, drill presses, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, profile machines, or reams metal and/or plastic parts
  • Operate and maintain inside and outside micrometers, depth micrometer, calipers, bore gages, and other general hand tools.
  • Make tool adjustments to adhere to established specifications.
  • Work,from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts
  • Requires basic knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining process.
  • Monitors work to ensure that machine is not malfunctioning.
  • Perform daily maintenance check of machine

What you’ll need

  • Education: High School/Equivalent
  • Certifications: Crane and forklift is preferred – in house training provided to obtain certification; Driver’s License
