Position Summary/Objective

The Laundry Attendant promotes a culture of safety, hospitality, service, honor, and respect among our homeless guests, our staff, and volunteers, for the purpose of furthering the vision and mission of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This position will be responsible for providing general laundry services, to include laundering in house linens and guest clothing, assisting in the transport of laundry to central and to the shelters, driving the laundry truck, etc.

Essential functions

• Responsible for all aspects of laundry operations including operation of laundry equipment, transportation of laundry, security and safety.
• Maintain safety and security standards for laundry employees, volunteers, donors and community service volunteers in the laundry facility.
• Working Saturdays
• All other duties as assigned.

Physical demands

• Must be able to stand, stoop, sit for various periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs short term on a consistent basis.

Travel percentage

• This position travels 25% of the work day, to and from central and shelters.

Required education and experience

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a clean driving record/insurable.
