$10,000 HIRING BONUS

This position is currently offering a $10,000 hiring bonus, with $5,000 paid at 8 months with satisfactory job performance and the balance of $5,000 paid at 14 months with satisfactory job performance. This hiring bonus is limited to new hires only, or otherwise, individuals not having been employed with Horizon up to 1 year from the date the application is received.

After being provided training, employees are promoted to the position of ES Clinician-LMHP-E, with a competitive promotional salary increase. In addition, upon promotion to ES Clinician-LMHP-E, employees performing emergency services duties receive a 10% pay differential above their base salary after completion of pre-screener training.

Required Education and Experience for Emergency Services Clinician – Trainee:

  • 60-hour Master's degree from an accredited college/university in an applicable human services field that will qualify the candidate with the Virginia Board of Counseling to receive clinical supervision toward licensure.
  • No professional experience required. Upon completion of the required training modules and approval to be a Certified Pre-Admission Screener the individual will be eligible to become Clinician-LMHPE with automatic pay increase.

This posting is for a trainee position that does not require experience.

Position Summary

The ES Clinician Trainee will respond to requests from the agency and the community for crisis intervention services, including limited-term crisis Intervention information and referral to community resources, and/or pre-admission screening for inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. This position will develop working relationships with area hospitals, schools, social services, law enforcement and other community partners; by actively providing consultation, support and education.

Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of clinical supervision requirements and techniques; Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance individual treatment and access the community resources; Knowledge of the principles, techniques, trends, and literature related to mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse; Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; including both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed; Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required; Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients in other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
