Job Description
Elaine Ellis Center of health, a federally qualified healthcare center, has 2 locations in NE Washington, DC and College Park, MD. We are looking for Bilingual Certified Medical Assistants to join our growing team. Qualified applicants for the Medical Assistant position must have reliable transportation, be flexible in scheduling and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Experience with the Athena EMR and VFC is preferred.
Specific Job Duties Include:
· Assist in the triage, examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician or nurse practitioner.
· Collaborate with providers to support and facilitate patient centered care coordination.
· Interview patients to obtain a medical history, measure vital signs and record information in the medical record.
· May be required to perform muscular-skeletal screening
· May be required to perform EKG’s, collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
· Prepare treatment rooms for patients.
· Obtain test results, reports and notes on referred patients.
· Secure appropriate referrals requested by the provider.
· Administer vaccinations and other medications per provider orders.
· Ensure compliance with the Vaccines For Children Program.
· Maintain inventory of medications, and other patient care supplies.
· Maintain and check emergency equipment and vaccine refrigerators per policy.
· Assist Front Desk Supervisor and provide coverage for registration area as needed for scheduling and registering patients.
· Actively participate in team training for patient centered care coordination.
· Participate in outreach and offsite programs as assigned.
· Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
