Japanese Bilingual Customer Service and Brokerage Agent, Air Import

Classification: Non-Exempt, Temp-to-Hire

Location: Wood Dale, IL (onsite)

Working Hours: 8:00 am- 5:00 pm



OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Japanese Bilingual Customer Service and Brokerage Agent to join a team at a global freight forwarding/logistics company. In this role, you will be coordinating air cargo import and responding to customer inquiries about their shipments. The communication with clients is mainly via emails in Japanese and English. Candidates who are entry level or with no logistics industry experience are welcome as long as you are interested in global logistics and willing to learn.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:

• Process, distribute, and release documentation to carriers, customers, and agents accurately and on time.

• Source the best method of transportation and create quotes for shipments.

• Serve as the first point of contact for customers, ensuring the execution of shipments and delivering excellent customer service.

• Track and trace shipments and provide updates to clients and sales.

• Collaborate with various departments on shipment planning, pricing, documentation, and quoting.

• Communicate with overseas agents to ensure proper pre-alerts and documentation.

• Keep up to date with import regulations or other government agency regulations that govern imports.

• Review customer and department SOPs and KPIs and ensure their shipments are adhered to and met.

• Build and maintain a strong and professional relationship with airlines, transportation agencies, and sales.

• Maintain shipment files and ensure billing is completed promptly.

• Negotiate rates with carriers on a spot rate basis.

• Prioritize customer satisfaction in accordance with company policy.

• Perform other duties assigned by Management.



QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Excel).

• Ability to communicate in English and Japanese (reading, writing)

• Basic math skills.
