The Transportation and Logistics Coordinator primarily serves as boat captain for transporting passengers and supplies to and from Nelson Lagoon to the Aleutian Rivers Angling Camp as well as performing general upkeep and maintenance on the boat. This position also coordinates and manages logistics to support the Aleutian Rivers Angling Camp and Steelhead Creek Camp. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for all boat operations, transporting passengers and supplies as needed or requested for boating trips to and from Nelson Lagoon. Inspect boat to ensure efficient and safe operation. Performs general upkeep and maintenance on the boat (including cleaning, making repairs, changing the oil), and overseeing major mechanical and structural repairs. Ensures passengers follow all safety procedures. Coordinates and manages logistics, supplies, transportation, and customer services. Performs other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates both indoors and outdoors in an unpredictable remote environment where phone and internet communications are limited. Most tasks will be performed at Nelson Lagoon Storage, in and around the village of Nelson Lagoon and at the remote camps. This position can expect to spend extended periods of time working outdoors in cold, wet, and windy conditions. Requires a sense of awareness of potential hazards while working near water or near heavy machinery. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; hike; use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift gear and supplies up to 50 pounds. REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Current USCG OUPV “6-pack” license. Minimum of one (1) year of general maintenance experience. Valid driver’s license, preferred. Other Skills & Preferences Current First-Aid and CPR Certification preferred. Must be well versed in the operation and use of small boats, 4x4 vehicles and trailers. Familiarity and ability to perform basic small motor/vehicle maintenance and repairs. Familiarity and ability to use a variety of power tools and equipment. Must be available to work varied and extended hours. Prior work and/or living experience in remote wilderness settings preferred. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. General knowledge of APICDA communities, geographic locations, fisheries, and tourism preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
