MMD Medical, a Velosity Company is currently seeking a Quality Manager to join our team in Brooklyn Park, MN. The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing and driving Velosity's quality vision and quality policies. This includes: ensuring compliance to regulatory standards (FDA, ISO, NIST, etc.), implementing continual improvement initiatives to streamline processes, recommending and implementing inspection methods and technologies to proactively address customer needs and market trends, participating and/or leading customer audits and supporting the new product development process.

Reports to: VP of Operations

Direct Reports: Quality Engineers-New Product Development, Sustaining Quality Engineer-Operations, Inspection Supervisor, Metrology Technicians, Receiving Inspection / Calibration

Essential Duties:

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.
  • Perform as Site Head of Quality/Management Representative
  • Resolve product quality, quality management and system issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Participate and/or lead customer and internal quality audits.
  • Ensure key messages are consistently and effectively communicated to the quality team, and cascaded within the team, as appropriate.
  • Ensure direct reports and their respective teams obtain relevant training and experience to develop both personally and professionally.
  • Monitor product performance (scrap, MRBs, RMAs, etc.) and embrace opportunities to drive operational and continual improvements to ensure quality product is produced consistently to achieve customer expectations.
  • Determine labor and equipment requirements to address existing and future business needs.
  • Ensure the quality team is engaged in new product development and provides support to the operations team for production approved product quality issues.
  • Implement methods/systems to monitor in-process inspection data to ensure products are not under- or over-inspected.
  • Maintain organization when working in a fast-pace, evolving business with multiple internal and external customers that have conflicting priorities, requirements and expectations.
  • Complete performance appraisals and succession plans; provide timely and relevant feedback to direct reports; celebrate accomplishments.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives as required; step in to support the quality team and/or business.
  • Display positive leadership attributes and provide clear direction to mitigate product and business risks.
  • Interface, build and nurture internal and external relationships to increase customer satisfaction and confidence.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience in a contract manufacturing environment, preferably in regulated industries.
  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.
  • Preferred 8 years quality experience in contract manufacturing and quality, preferably in regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of quality, quality systems, ISO standards, validation methodology, inspection methods and contract manufacturing processes including experience in new product development; ability to apply effective problem solving techniques and to utilize root cause analysis skills; knowledge of print reading; experience in implementing effective change.



Licensing/Registration/Certification:

  • Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

Velosity is a non-smoking, climate controlled, professional injection molding facility. The manufacturing environment may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding facility. Walking and stair climbing is required within the facility. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance.
