Position: Family Support Worker - Kalamazoo (Part Time)

This position provides assistance to clients by transporting children to appointments and parenting time visitation and assisting workers in case related activities on an as needed basis. Provide administrative support for foster care through case file organization on an as needed basis.

Compensation: $16.00-$16.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will change from time to time in accordance with the agency's program needs, job duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Coordinate and maintain contact with Foster Families, Biological Families and Support staff to schedule parenting time and make changes when necessary.

Oversee scheduled parenting time visitations in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Offices, biological family homes and community.

Demonstrate the ability and flexibility to work nontraditional hours, such as evenings and weekends.

Effectively provide constructive feedback to biological parents regarding parenting skills.

Provide detailed case notes/visitation notes to case managers after each parenting time.

Transport foster children, as needed, for appointments and visits.

Assist in ensuring Friend of the Court and DHHS families meet their parenting time goals.

Provide support to professional staff by making copies, filing and other requests as assigned within the designated time frames.

Make daily runs to the Department of Health Human Services and Court as needed.

This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support 1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices; 2) person-centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual, who defines his/her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid individuals in their recovery process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

An Associate's in a human services or related field from an accredited college, or a minimum of 62 credit hours completed toward a Bachelor's in a human services or related field from an accredited college. Bachelors preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Michigan driver's license and driving record which complies with agency policy. Must have a vehicle that can be used to transport clients.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to implement physical assistance/intervention as warranted.

Ability to regularly provide out-of-office services in unstructured, unpredictable situations.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Must be able to transport clients in own vehicle; this includes adult clients and their children.

Ability to drive own vehicle and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license and vehicle insurance that meets agency requirements is required for this role.

Ability to drive during the day or evening, and in varied weather conditions, is required for this role.
