Direct Support Professional


The primary purpose of a DSP is to assist people who need support to lead self-directed lives and to participate fully in our community. As a DSP, your week will be filled with rewarding opportunities to help people with disabilities live rich, active lives.


Make $41K to $45K+ per year!

We are looking for full time Direct Support Professionals to work three, 12-hour shifts including one weekend shift. This gives you the opportunity to have a great work life balance. With only working three days per week, you will have 208 scheduled days off for the year!

We offer very stable employment opportunities with 36 hours per week as full-time status.


Average wages between $22.00 to $24.50 for a 36-hour work week. Work week will consist of three, 12- hour shifts including one weekend shift.

On any given day you may:

  • Go to local sporting events, concerts, movies, restaurants—and even go on trips and vacations!
  • Participate in goal planning and implementation
  • Encourage and support people in learning new skills and attending various classes
  • Support people to appointments or do fun things in the community
  • Help people you support prepare meals, cook, clean, eat, take care of personal hygiene, and other daily living skills.

What are the Background Qualifications to Become a Direct Support Professional?

Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid drivers license
  • High School Diploma
  • Post-secondary education and/or relevant experience is a plus
  • Qualifying background check and drug screen

What Are the Main Requirements of a Direct Support Professional?

Including but not limited to:

  • Advocating for people by supporting them to live their best life
  • Provide the supports necessary to build self-esteem, assertiveness and to make decisions
  • Utilize a variety of communication strategies to establish collaborative relationships with the person supported and the team
  • Support people with building and maintaining relationships with friends, family and community members
  • Complete daily documentation to track the progress in assisting people to achieve their goals
  • Be able to prevent, identify and defuse crisis situations
  • Demonstrate commitment to the organization by providing input to better strengthen our services
