Pablo Production Crew employees are responsible for the setup and operation of sound reinforcement systems, lighting systems, projection equipment, video equipment, communications equipment, event setup equipment and in-house systems in Pablo Center and for Pablo-supported external events. Crew who serve in a specific area of specialty (e.g., Crew Chiefs) receive additional training in their specialization and have primary responsibility over that area.

Production Crew is required to uphold the Pablo Center reputation of professionalism through appearance, demeanor, and performance, maintaining consistent work ethic regardless of the client or duty. In addition, Production Crew is expected to aid Pablo Center Staff, visiting artists and guests, and patrons in any capacity as needed. Crew are required to work collaboratively for extended periods of time in close proximity (i.e., distances under five feet) with Artists, Patrons, Students, Community Members, and Pablo Center Staff.

Requirements:

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Assist in the setup, use, storage, and care of audio, lighting, projection, video, orchestral, staging and seating equipment.
  • Assist with the rearrangement and storage of furniture for large building conferences and events.
  • Oversee Production Crew during setups, keeping a ‘big picture’ overview to limit bottlenecks and increase efficiencies in setups.
  • Report any shift issues or broken equipment to the Audio Engineer, Event Production Manager, or Production Electrician (Production Staff) during or immediately following shifts.
  • Report any damaged part of the facility to the Director of Operations.
  • Serve as point of contact for shift setups; responsible for conveying information regarding setups, load-ins/outs, strikes, and changeovers, including last-minute changes to other crew.
  • Ensure all crew call tasks are carried out effectively and completely.
  • Ensure daily completion of the closing checklist when closing for events.
  • Serve on Run Crew (FOH engineer, LD, MONs, Engineer, Stagehand, etc) for performance events (e.g., concerts, festivals, galas).
  • Serve as Room Monitor or AV Assistant for non-performance events (e.g., classes, business meetings).
  • Assist in the professional execution of events to best of ability and regardless of task.
  • Provide general maintenance and cleaning of performance areas.
  • Participate in training at the direction of the Production Staff.
  • Follow the employee handbook and code of conduct.
  • Know building emergency procedures.
  • Know safety protocols for production work and alert staff when safety is an issue.
  • Wear PPE in accordance with current building, county health, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively for extended periods of time in close proximity (i.e., distances under five feet) with Artists, Patrons, Students, Community Members, and Pablo Center Staff.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Willing to learn through hands-on experience.
  • Able to carry 50 pounds.
  • Able to work at height; including climbing ladders, operating Genie or scissor-type lifts, and working in exposed drop-off areas that require wearing fall-protection gear.
  • Able to follow directions and accept feedback from supervisors and peers.
  • Able to give direction and feedback to peers in a professional, respectful manner.
  • Have a strong sense of professional courtesy and client or artist relations.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor when in a situation heightened by a change-of-plans, deadline, emergency, or emotion.
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Familiar with, or working towards a familiarity with:
    • Yamaha Digital Consoles
    • Dante Audio Networking - must complete Dante Level 1 within the first month of employment & Level 2 Certification within first 3 months of employment.
    • d&b ArrayCalc and R1 software
  • Experience mixing FOH and/or Monitors for live music.
  • Experience as an A2 for theatrical events
    • Ideally with wireless microphones or coordination of RF
  • Experience using both Mac and Windows computers.
  • Familiarity with the following Lighting equipment:
    • ETC based consoles
    • sACN/ DMX systems
    • Intelligent fixtures
  • Experience with:
    • Counterweight fly system operation
    • Chain motor rigging and control
    • Power Distros and tie ins
