Job Description
Anchor House is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a faith-based intensive residential SUD treatment program to provide a stable and reliable foundation where the soul is refreshed and hope is born again.
The Vocational Counselor provides services which assist clients in obtaining the necessary education, vocational skills, interests, and work attitudes to secure employment. Services will be delivered in compliance with the evidenced-based model of Individualized Placement and Support (IPS) services.
· Formulate a vocational profile including TABE testing and a comprehensive vocational assessment within a designated timeframe and assist clients in developing realistic short and long-term vocational goals.
· Maintain up-to-date charts including individual and group notes.
· Administer and interpret vocational and other interest tests to establish clients' achievements, interests and aptitudes
· Refer residents/clients to Adult Career and Continuing Education Services - Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) and provide subsequent follow ups.
· Trouble shoot any concerns related to Vocational and Educational services and report in the weekly Interdisciplinary team meetings.
· Maintain constant follow-up with clients in vocational and educational training:
o coach new clients on how to approach reading material (if necessary)
o coach new clients on how to do homework and take tests (if necessary)
· Conduct discussion groups for clients, providing vocational awareness, techniques for handling work situations and job seeking skill preparation.
· Collaborate with primarily counselor and interdisciplinary team when developing and writing the vocational treatment plan.
· Administer pre-screening sessions and online application process for employment initiatives. Obtains the required placement documentation through telephone calls, email, faxes or letters.
· Attend weekly interdisciplinary staff meetings, outside conferences, trainings, and quality improvement activities.
· Develop and maintain adequate resources and linkages to community organizations for support services, referral and follow up and maintain employment tracking.
· Develop collaborations with universities that provide Internships for master’s level Vocational Rehabilitation Credentialing; to assist in the Vocational Coordination of services.
· Assist client in achieving employment/vocational goals of Service Plan.
· This position may require the performance of other essential and non-essential job duties in addition to those enumerated above
Qualifications:
· Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Credential (CRC) required
· CASAC Credential preferred
· Three years experience providing vocational/educational services in residential treatment setting.
· Professional verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills.
· Visibility of work requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
· Participates effectively in a team environment.
· English/Spanish bi-lingual a plus.
· Must be willing to have a flexible schedule including weekends if needed.
