Summary

Do you have a passion for mentoring, while working closely with Early Educators and families? We’re looking for a leader to co-direct alongside our current director to help mentor and support teachers and families.
You will be the face of the school alongside our dedicated teachers. We strive to provide the best environment not only for our students but for our staff as well. We strive to make that difference by teaching through nature-based play, allowing our students opportunities for self-discovery.

This is NOT a full-time office job.We are a program built around SUPPORT, which is rare in the Early Childhood Education field. You would be spending a majority of your time in the classrooms helping support teachers and maintaining best practices. You will be tasked with all the duties a normal Director would do in terms of enrollment to hiring, but that should only take a small portion of each day!

Duties

Duties:
1. Conduct site observations to promote developmentally appropriate practices, sound program approaches to the delivery of services, and impart culturally and linguistically appropriate beliefs.
2. Assist with the collection, monitoring, assessing, and analysis of child observations.
3. Provide one-to-one reflective strategies for improving teacher-child interactions and how to work with culturally, linguistically, and developmentally diverse groups of children.
4. Conduct small group meetings for teaching staff to discuss appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, the ongoing assessment process, and how to individualize curriculum.
5. Provide informal learning opportunities for teachers to reflect on and apply theory and learning to everyday practice.
6. Maintain current knowledge of the program’s curriculum and operational procedures related to early care and education and ensure implementation.
7. Provide encouragement designed to support teaching staff's goals.
8. Maintain documentation of all services provided and reports submitted.
9. Distribute latest research-based resources, professional growth opportunities, and materials.
10. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Education and ExperienceThe program director is at least twenty-one (21) years of ageThe program director licensed to serve thirteen (13) - fifty-nine (59) children shall be qualified as a teacher associate, and shall have completed either:A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One (1) Certificate; orSuccessful completion of a three (3) college credit course in program management for early care and education or for school age care and education, or in staff supervision related to early care and education of children; and a three (3) college credit course in curriculumPreferred Criteria
Previous mentor/leader experience:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Teaching License
