Summary / Objective:

Engineering Technicians play a crucial role in testing, evaluating, and assessing the performance and interface requirements for systems. The Engineering Technicians work as part of a team to make necessary preparations for test evolutions, including designing, documenting, and validating special support and test equipment. They perform upgrades, overhauls, and maintenance of test vehicles and deployment apparatus equipment to ensure readiness for test events. They travel to test sites to communicate test objectives, supporting execution of test scenarios, operating equipment, and collecting and organizing data. Lastly, the Engineering Technicians prepare and deliver comprehensive test reports to detail work performed, tests conducted, investigations completed, and conclusions drawn from test execution and post-test analysis.

Level I

Desired Education:

Bachelor's level degree in a science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

3 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Level II

Desired Education:

Bachelor's level degree in a science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

3 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Level III

Desired Education:

Master’s level degree in science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

7 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Level IV

Desired Education:

Master’s level degree in science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

10 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Level V

Desired Education:

Master’s level degree in science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

12 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Level VI

Desired Education:

Master’s level degree in science or technical discipline

Desired Experience:

14 years professional experience as an Engineering Technician.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements:

Holding and maintaining a Secret Security Clearance

This job operates professional office environment and/or a lab environment in person. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Excellent listening skills are essential. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stop, kneel, crouch or craw. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and lift/and or move object up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

The typical workday is eight hours in length. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, with concurrence from the supervisor. The employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and must account for the hours in a pay period to maintain full-time status.

Travel:

Up to 10% travel may be required.
